  • Grades is one of the criteria for the Monopoly game.  Why are grades important?  Clearly, numerically, they don’t count in the same way they will when you enter high school. What will count is the skills you learn—the research skills, the pay attention to detail skills, the do it the way your teacher wants you to skills, the going the extra mile skills. These are what will enable you to hit the ground running when you enter high school.  The truth is that all grades make a difference. Those students who choose to "just get by" through the middle years will find doors closing for them - doors that will make a difference on their final transcript. When a student becomes mediocre in his or her performance, opportunities are lost. Some of those opportunities include being in advanced classes, being eligible for sports, being involved in special projects and socializing with the students who are making good grades.

  • Tardiness is one of the criteria for the Monopoly game.  Why is tardiness important?  It has been shown that school tardiness has a negative impact on your learning.  Being late to school means you miss out on important morning announcements.  Tardiness also means frustration for your teachers as they have to reteach what you have missed. Don’t be late to your classes and you won’t out!

  • The next Team TRRFCC meeting will be Wednesday, January 17th after school in Mrs. Szmania’s room. Please have your rides ready to pick you up at 3:10.

  • Attention all students:  Mrs. Ruhland is running a fine free return all this week in the library.  If you have an overdue book be sure to bring it back by Friday to take advantage of the fine free return week.

  • Attendance is one of the criteria for the Monopoly game.  Why is attendance important?  Studies find that students need to attend school daily to succeed.  Did you know that being in school every day leads to succeeding in school?  Achievement in math is very sensitive to your attendance.  Make attendance a priority.

  • How to be a good friend:  Good friends are trustworthy and dependable.  If your friend tells you a secret, you keep it.  You don’t tell anyone else.  Never violate the trust they have given you.  If you tell your friend you will do something, you do it.  This makes sure your friend knows you are always there for them.  If your friend has a problem, you try to help them solve it.  Friends stick together through the good and bad times.

  • The party for our door-decorating winners will be tomorrow after announcements in the cafeteria.  If you decorated the library door, Mrs. Sutherland’s door or the Breen/Bobbitt/Szmania hallway, please join us for donuts!

  • How to be a good friend:  Good friends try to understand each other’s feelings and moods. They care about each other.  When your friend is sad and down, you try to understand why.  You try to cheer them up. You take the time to say “you matter to me”.

  • Today for lunch we are having Mac and Cheese instead of spaghetti.
