  • Have you brought in change for the penny war?  We want to raise as much as we can for Mrs. Thomas’s math class at Henderson Middle School in Sour Lake Texas!  They lost most of their technology and supplies.  Let’s help them!

  • Congratulations Justis Camp from Mrs. Puterbaugh’s class.  You are the first winner in our book fair drawing!!!  Please see Mrs. Ruhland in the library to claim your prize.   Any student wishing to enter to win a free book or a free poster stop by the book fair to put your name in the drawing.

  • A BIG congratulations to our speech team!! Last night we had our conference meet and we had 14 first place finishes out of 16 entries! Great job and excellent work to all of our speech team members!! Congratulations Speech Team!

  • Attention Speech Team members..our conference meet is  today at Mossville .  Be dressed and ready to go in the foyer at 3:00 on Wednesday.  Come out and cheer on our speech team members at Mossville this Wednesday!

  • Attention Buddies:  Today is our field trip to Blue Ridge Farm.  4th and 5th graders need to meet in Mrs. Cohen’s class at 9:10 this morning.  Junior high needs to meet in Miss Bobbitt’s right after 2nd period.  Remember to bring your sack lunch with you!

  • Attention All Students:  The Book Fair is now open in our Library.   Everyone should be sure to stop in and see all of the great merchandise that is for sale.  While you are there, drop your name into the prize drawing for a chance to win a free book!!!  

  • Attention Team TRRFCC members: Our October meeting is today after school in Mrs. Szmania’s room. Please have a ride ready to pick you up by 3:10.

  • Penny wars are going strong.  Get that change in to help a classroom in Texas!

  • Attention Speech Team members..our conference meet is at Mossville this Wednesday.  Be dressed and ready to go in the foyer at 3:00 on Wednesday.  Come out and cheer on our speech team members at Mossville this Wednesday!

  • Attention basketball fans:  Tonight is Pack the Place Night for our girls basketball game against Farmington.  We will have a halftime shoot-out contest, chuck a duck, prize giveaways, and a bake sale.  Students who wear red or Mustangs gear will get in for $1.  We want to pack the stands, so please come and cheer our girls on to victory!

  • Attention Buddies: Tomorrow is our field trip to Blue Ridge Farm.  Please remember to bring a sack lunch and dress for the weather.

  • Attention Team TRRFCC members: If you would like to help count Hurricane Harvey change, please meet in Mrs. Szmania’s room after school today. Also, don’t forget our October meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, after school in Mrs. Szmania’s room. Please have a ride ready to pick you up by 3:10.

  • Don’t forget to bring in those pennies for the Penny War!  The winning class will have a homemade cinnamon roll party.

  • Attention basketball fans:  Tuesday, October 17th will be Pack the Place Night for our girls basketball game against Farmington.  We will have a halftime shoot-out contest, chuck a duck, prize giveaways, and a bake sale.  Students who wear red or Mustangs gear will get in for $1.  We want to pack the stands, so please come and cheer our girls on to victory!

  • If any Jr. High students would like to order a salad for lunch please put your request in the lunch money folders and put the folders in the hallway by 8:00 a.m.  

  • Attention everyone:  The online book fair is now open for business.  Please visit the scholastic.com/fair website to shop hundreds of titles that will not be included in our school book fair that is starting Wednesday Oct. 18th.  The link is also on our CEC Facebook page.  Questions...see Mrs. Ruhland in the library.


  • Congratulations to the girls cross country team for finishing 12 th in the state.   Zoe Irvin placed 18th out of 241 girls. She earned the title of All State, earned a medal, and broke the school record for the third time.  The new record to beat is now 12 minutes and 3 seconds. Congratulations to all the girls!

  • Attention 8th grade girls attending the CAT field trip - Permission slips are due TODAY to Mrs. Palmer.

  • Mr Moneybags reminder that our Student of the Month prize this month is a 32” TV.  Are you working towards getting a house and qualifying for the Monopoly game drawing?

  • Snack Packs have been delivered.  Junior high students, make sure you stop in the office to pick yours up before you leave today.

  • SPEECH TEAM members… today is our district meet at CEC. Please be back at school  by 3:45pm today. Everybody come and see your friends perform today at 4 after school.  There will also be a bake sale in the foyer just in case you are hungry!! See you at 3:45.

  • Don’t forget to order the FUEL recipe for lunch.  This week is a grilled chicken and cheese sandwich.  Available today and tomorrow!

  • Today starts the Penny Wars!  Remember every penny counts!  The classroom with the most points will win a homemade cinnamon roll party!  Bring in the change and change the lives of kids living in Texas!

  • Attention 8th grade girls who are planning to attend the STEM field trip at CAT….Please return your Permission slips to Mrs. Palmer in the Office!

  • 8th grades- turn your $25.00 deposit for the six flags trip ASAP.  Also six flags fundraiser is due Wed Oct. 11th.  

  • Lady Grey Ghost Volleyball is hosting Pack the Place Pink night tonight starting at 5:30 pm with the Fresh/Soph game and Varsity game at 6:30 pm.  All CEC and Chilli-Thunder volleyball players get into the game free and receive a free ‘hot’ pink Grey Ghost Volleyball shirt - Athletes will be on the floor for introductions and warm ups and have special seating next to the Boo Crew!!   Free passes will be coming around today.  If you do not receive one, see coach Webb before the end of the day.  There will be a 50/50 raffle with all proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen foundation.

  • Congratulations to the cross country girls team for placing 2 nd at the AA  sectional meet this weekend.  They will be advancing to the state meet this Saturday in Bloomington.   This is the first time a team will be going to the state meet .  The boys placed 5 th out of 15 teams. Congratulations to both teams.

  • Attention 5th-8th graders:  If you are interested in trying out for boys basketball, please come and sign up in the office.  You will need a current physical and signed athletic packet in order to tryout.  Tryouts begin after school on October 16th.

  • Recycling is today. Please place your recycling bins outside of your classroom if you would like them picked up.

  • SAVE THE DATE: Tuesday, October 10th

The IVC Lady Grey Ghosts Volleyball team will be hosting a “Pack the Place Pink” night for their home game against Rantoul.


The Lady Grey Ghosts will be recognizing CEC, Mossville, Pearce, and Chilli-Thunder volleyball players by handing out “Hot Pink” Grey Ghosts VB Shirts to all athletes.  You must be present to receive your shirt.  


All athletes will take the floor with the Varsity girls for their ‘run out’ song and will surround the court for warmups.  There will be special seating for all athletes in the section next to the IVC “Boo Crew”.


Please plan on attending and being recognized as a future Lady Grey Ghost volleyball player!!!


  • Attention 8th grade girls….CAT will host the 5th annual Introduce a Girl to STEM Day - Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.  This field trip will include a Keynote speaker, and a series of rotations that will expose the girls to STEM Careers, STEM Innovations, Problem-Solving Skills, and Teamwork.    CAT will provide us with Lunch!!  The date is November 9th.  Please return Permission slips to Mrs. Palmer!

  • Attention CEC: Team TRRFCC has adopted a Texas classroom that was affected by Hurricane Harvey. We will hold a Penny War to raise money so we can send gift cards to help replace needed school items. Each type of coin or bill counts as different points. The class who earns the most points will win a cinnamon roll breakfast party with homemade cinnamon rolls baked by Mrs. Breen and Mrs. Szmania!

  • Attention 5th-8th graders:  If you are interested in trying out for boys basketball, please come and sign up in the office.  You will need a current physical and signed athletic packet in order to tryout.  Tryouts begin after school on October 16th.

  • We need neckties! Bring in old neckties that dad or grandpa never wear.  Please drop off in the office.

  • Team TRRFCC: Turn in your contracts and/or officer applications ASAP!

  • Team TRRFCC members interested in helping with the Hurricane Harvey fundraiser, please see Mrs. Szmania or Mrs. Breen before school on Thursday.

  • The Cross Country team ran last night at Jubilee Park.  The girls team got a first place and the boys second.   Zoe Irvin once again broke the school record running  12:28 breaking her own record.   There were also 16 personal records set.    Congratulations to Zoe and the team

  • This is a reminder: We have been getting complaints from parents of foul and inappropriate language outside the front doors at the end of the school day. Any student that is found to be using this type of language will be subject to discipline consequences.
